What should I expect at my first lesson?
Learn what to expect at your first TeachMe.To lesson. Arrive prepared, bring any requested equipment, and share any physical or medical considerations with your coach.
Your first lesson on TeachMe.To is designed to be fun, welcoming, and fully personalized. Coaches are independent professionals who tailor the session to your goals and experience level, so you can get the most out of your time together.
Here’s how to prepare and what you can expect:
Arrive Ready to Learn
Most lessons begin with a short conversation where your coach asks about:
- Your experience level
- What you want to improve
- Any goals or challenges you have
- How comfortable you are with the activity
This helps your coach shape the session to fit you.
Bring Any Equipment Noted by Your Coach
Equipment needs vary by activity and coach. Examples include:
- Golf: clubs (many coaches can provide a few starter clubs)
- Tennis or pickleball: racquet or paddle
- Other equipments, depending on the skill you're learning
Check your booking confirmation or coach notes for specifics. Make sure to confirm on the chat with your coach.
Share Any Physical or Medical Considerations
For safety and proper instruction, please let your coach know if you have:
- Injuries
- Mobility limitations
- Medical conditions that affect activity
- Preferences or concerns about intensity
This helps them adjust the pace and exercises during the lesson.
Who Can Attend the Lesson?
Only the student(s) included in the booking may participate or attend the session.
This ensures:
- The coach can give you their full attention
- The lesson stays safe and focused
- Liability and insurance guidelines are followed
If you want to bring a friend or take a group lesson, you’ll need to book the correct number of Students in advance.
What Your Coach Will Cover
Depending on the activity and your level, your first lesson may include:
- A quick assessment of your current skill
- Basic technique review or introductory drills
- Feedback and adjustments
- A short plan for future lessons
Many Students use the first lesson to understand the coach’s style and decide whether they want to continue weekly or on a recurring schedule.
After the Lesson
You’ll receive:
- A confirmation that the lesson was completed, and provide a quick review of how your lesson went
- A feedback from the coach with any notes or follow-up instructions (varies by coach)
- The option to book your next lesson directly through TeachMe.To
If you’re on a First Lesson Free Subscription, billing for your subscription begins 24 hours after your first lesson is completed.
